Since it was only a few hours’ drive from where they lived in Mbabane, Swaziland, Rick and Wendy visited Maputo, Mozambique for a long weekend in August 2006. Rick has since returned in February 2009 and April 2012 on TechnoServe business. Mozambique is a country recovering well from its failed socialism after independence. Its beautiful coastline is its main reason to for tourism from regional countries.
